Dear Parents,

A few thank yous for some past happenings. We had a successful Golf Outing and I’d like to thank the Golf Committee for all its hard work. I think those who played and those who joined us at the Bull’s Head for dinner had a good time. We also had a great Walk-a-thon and raised about $2200 so we are able to purchase 2 projectors for the classrooms.

November is a busy month as we celebrate All Saints and All Souls Days. We remember all of our loved ones who have gone before us during this month. Lots of activities also occur: Friday, November 7 – the 8th graders take the high school entrance test for Catholic Schools; then after our 8:30 Mass we welcome many grandparents to the gym for a small breakfast; November 20th is Parent/Teacher Conference Day as you will receive your child/children’s first report card for this year; and our 8th graders will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Friday, November 21st at 4PM. Please pray with me that these children will receive the many gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. Because we are so fortunate, we try to remember those who are not, as we collect food to prepare Thanksgiving Baskets for the migrant farm families at House on the Hill. We would be grateful for frozen turkeys if they can be dropped off early on the morning of Tuesday, November 25th. On Wednesday, November 26th, we will have our traditional short Thanksgiving service in church to thank God for all our blessings and to commemorate the First Thanksgiving.

Our OCPSL Basketball season begins on November 8th with away games the first 3 weekends of November.  Remember the most important thing is to show good sportsmanship whether we win or lose.

See you all on November 20th. May God continue to bless each of you for your continued support of St. John School, its teachers and children.

Gratefully in Saint Dominic,
