Dear Parents:
The season of Lent has just begun. Encourage your child to do something special for Lent as a preparation for Easter. Each class also does an outreach project for Lent.
The month of March brings lots of testing for our children – New York State Math Exams for Grades 4 and 8, plus mandatory ITBS testing (Iowa Test of Basic Skills) for all the grades. These test results will assist teachers when planning for instruction for next year.
Please help your child/children be prepared for all these tests in the following ways:
1. Let your child know you are confident about his/her ability.
2. Have your child go to bed at a reasonable time to ensure a good night’s sleep.
3. Make sure your child eats breakfast.
4. Be sure your child is on time for school each morning.
Thanks for all you continue to do to support our students.
March is Read Across America month and the parents have lots of activities planned for the children. We in Goshen host the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and we are hopeful of some OCPSL Basketball triumphs this season as well.
Our second graders receive First Penance (Reconciliation) this month in preparation for First Holy Communion in April. Please keep these children in you prayers as it is a very special time for them.
Gratefully in Saint Dominic,
Sr. Barbara Werner, OP
